    Default Heat Pump Water Heaters

I liked the article about the different types of water heaters. I live in Florida where we don't have gas lines run in our neighborhood. Everything is electric. We currently have conventional electric water heaters that are very expensive to operate. I have read that the heat pump water heaters are twice as efficient or more. And they actually give off cold air when they heat the water which is great since the water heater sits in my hot garage.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Which units are good/reliable? Anything else to consider?

One thing to consider is the cost of these heaters. They are typically more expensive than traditional water heaters (Gas Storage). I have also read in some articles that these water heaters heat water much slower than traditional water heaters however they are way more efficient.

I too am curious about the cooling properties especially if placed in a room like the garage

Good point. They are a bit slower than some of the newer water heaters although if you are replacing an older electric heater you may not notice much of a difference. The good thing with them being in a garage is that since a garage is generally hot, there is more heat available to transfer to the water, meaning that it can heat faster. Good luck heating the water quickly when the temperature around the water heater drops to the 30s and 40s. I'd like to hear some comments from people who have used these. Anyone?

Heat pump water heaters make use of electricity to move heat from one place to another instead of generating heat directly. As a result, they can be 2 - 3 times more energy efficient than conventional electric resistance water heaters. To move the heat, heat pumps work like a refrigerator in reverse.

When it comes to heat pump I would go with gas powered because it is much cheaper especially to some countries that have really high value of electricity.

Default Energy Efficient Alternatives for water Heaters

There are two types of geothermal water heating systems. One system is designed to be used in combination with a radiant water heating system. Another popular design utilizes a geothermal heat pump to heat the water. Of the two, geothermal pump heating systems are growing popular, as they are a more affordable solution as compared to radiant geothermal heating systems.
Solar water heating systems are broadly classified into active and passive water heating.

Insulating Hot Water Tanks and Pipes is also a good way to reduce heat loss.It saves 4 to 9 % in water heating cost. The easiest way to insulate a water tank is to use precut insulation jackets. Insulation jackets or blankets are inexpensive solutions and usually cost between $10 and $20.

let me know anyone have more information.

But on a serious note, a stove upgrade is one thing, but having to change out ones pots to match the stove technology ... may be pushing it.

A heat pump water heater? Do you mean what is a good brand for a heat pump, and what is a good brand for a water heater?I guess it depends who you ask. Each dealer will claim that the brands they carry are superior over their competetors.
