Do you use the gallon size or the quart size? I found out that even with the larger gallon sizes you can still go through most TSA check points. I though they specifically say quart size ziploc bags, but I could be wrong.
I'm a big fan of using ziplocks in my packing for traveling :
- Ziploc bags can be used to store all lotions / liquids / toothbrushes / toothpaste
- Using ziplock to store electronics cables
- Storing all pens (for immigration forms in ziplock bags)
- Storing underwear in Ziploc bags when traveling for long periods of time (ie the 15 hour flight)

On a diff note, it is amazing how a brand - ziplock, has become the standard for those plastic storage bags. What came first? the term or the company?
I have no idea but I'm pretty sure the company. Kind of like how copies were defined as Xeroxes
LOL. And tissues as kleenex. I've also noticed that security doesn't do a very good job checking for liquids. I've accidentally left toiletries in my bag while going through security. Lotion, shampoo etc. And the only time I've been stopped is for shaving cream. I suppose the metal shows up more clearly than the plastic containers.
You are so right. To be honest - I think it's guidelines more than a hard and fast rule. Another thing I've noticed is that you can get away with 2 quart sized bags. They don't really care how many - as long as they fit into a quart bag. I wonder what that means for security![]()
