Wind turbine explosion.
I read the article on wind turbines in denmark and it reminded me of a video I saw on youtube where one of those wind turbines picked up so much speed and just exploded.

unbelievable! you'd think they'd put a brake or a gear in there to slow it down when it gets that fast! speaking of which, how do most wind mills withstand storms? what is the max wind speed that they can handle? I'm sure it would be really tough to restore power after a hurricane goes through a wind mill farm...Hmmmm.

There's an electrical "limiter" as well, so the grid probably didn't see anything until it disappeared.
